OUR WEDDING

Michael & Maz got married on the 9th of August 2008 in the gardens of "Ashlar"

The sun came out about 11am after a rainy cold winters night. The 100 guests came as far as Toowoomba Qld, Tasmania, Sydney, Melbourne and surrounding places. The guest were kept guessing on the arrival plans of Maz & Michael each one anticipating the horses to be involved. Yes there was in a form of a Harley Davidson Trike, that Michael & Ty arrived with that familiar loud sound of a Harley. Maz and the girls arrived in a newly renovated 1920's A Model Ford. That their family friend Alan Martin had taken 4 months to rebuild. restoring her to her former glory.
Guest where greeted by a singer from Ballarat singing "Annie's Song" and a Keith Urban song "Making Memories of Us" They left the alter to the song "Lifting Me Higher"
The potbelly stove and the brassieres were the places to keep warm as the guests were wined and dinned to a very enjoyable evening.
But the night would not be complete with out the boys wanting to do some Auctioning. The family pet goat "Tula" was the prize for the night. she eventually got sold to Ty & Abbey's Uncle that lives in Docklands Melbourne. It took some explaining to the children that the goat was not being sold, and it was all fun!
The day was a great success with many guests saying it was one of the most emotional fun family orientated wedding they had ever been to.
Michael & Maz then spent a well earned brake for ten days in Vietnam, which they would highly recommend

On the 4th 5th & 6ths of October 2008 The show team was put into full spin. We arrived at Yarrawonga show on Friday night to the sounds of fireworks. Not a good feeling with five horses and three handlers, but the show was a great success with the "Doc's LiL Rascal" & Maz winning the Two Handed Cutting and receiving her first Belt Buckle. Our new Mare "Touch & Go" coming equal second in the cutting with Michael on board put smiles on our faces.
From there we were off to Berrigan on the Sunday for some stockhorse classes. "Barwidgee" was in full form winning Reserve Champion Male, Champion Ridden Stockhorse, Champion Working Stock Horse & Champion Station Horse. He then put the quadralla together and won "Supreme Champion Stockhorse of the Show" receiving a beautiful trophy Rug. The rest of the team did not let the side down with "Touch and Go" winning Champion led Female. "FoxyLady" won Reserve Champion Working Stockhorse. In all we received a total of 20 ribbons on the day not including the Champion ribbons. Not bad for the beginning of the season.
Monday came around fast enough with the next show being Walbundrie. "Barwidgee" & Maz keep true to their form winning " Champion Working stockhorse".
"Foxylady" & Michael won in a strong class of females (12) and rode against "Barwidgee" &
Maz for the champion. "Touch and Go" went very well for Maz and came third. It was well appreciate as that combination is still getting to know each other. Abbey and Recal had a great long weekend competing and placing in many events.
One of our junior ridding lesson riders Meg Freudenstein had an opportunity to ride "Rascal" in the junior events over the few days and had a wonderful time winning her first lot of ribbons. Congratulations to her and her Mum & Dad. John & Jo are purchasing Meg a Stockhorse "Ashlarstud True Colors" so we will be seeing more of Meg in the stockhorse ring to come.
Well Done

On the 25th & 26th September the Glasser girls went to Australian Stockhorse Youth Camp. It was a two day school held at Geelong Show grounds. The instructor Ian Hyde conducted the classes to a credit to him. Every child was individual assessed and taught valuable lessons in the training and management of their horses in each discipline from led to ridden classes. The children had a wonderful time each excelling in confidence through the two days. Annabel even got to canter and do haunch turns, which isn't bad for a 6yr old on a 15.1hh mare.
well done to the stockhorse society and I am sure  we will be heading to the next Ian Hyde School.
