Michael Glasser
Michael was born and raised in campdraft country, Chinchilla QLD. The eldest son of Max and Lynne Glasser of "Glencoe Stock Horses" QLD.
From as early as he can remember growing up on the stud cattle operation, there were cattle and horses to be involved with.
Being involved with pony club was a natural progression, how ever mustering at home with the family gave plenty of opportunity to practice campdraft skills.
Having his first ride in the juvenile draft at 11 yrs old was quite an experience on a pony called 'Sugar'.
He was quite the pony, you could win a local hack on him and win the juvenile draft. He even qualified & competed at the Brisbane Royal Show.
Progressing through to junior drafts and the odd steer ride and open company drafts, with some success and Showing Stock horses at local shows and branch shows until the stud cattle bug bit.
Again progressing through the junior ranks of cattle preparation and winning a scholarship to Michigan State University USA in 1986. Spending 8 months in the States studying cattle preparation among other things.
Returning home to assist in the management of the family feedlot until moving to Victoria to begin a new career in the Livestock agency business. He brought with him a gelding "Master Ray" ( Valentine stud Master Luke (IS) Line ) competed in several drafts, including a spectacular crash at Barnawartha that resulted in knee surgery, but returned 2 yrs later on the same horse for a second place in the Novice section. Unfortunately "Ray" was put down a few years later.
Annabel, he purchased a couple of mares which would become the beginning of his ASH breeding program. Michael got through difficult times of his separation and become actively involved in the local ASH branch and holding several positions with in the branch.
Again with his competitive nature, he was led back to the show ring and eventually to the occasional draft. It's through the show ring and his daughter Michaela & Maz's daughter Abbey, Michael and Maz met and the story begins!!
